The greenhouse gas whose concentration is most directly affected by human activities.

CO2 also serves as the reference to compare all other greenhouse gases – this is referred to as carbon dioxide equivalent (Co2-e). Carbon dioxide equivalents are commonly expressed as ‘million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalents (MMTCDE)’.
